About ADHD
Attention, impulses and big feelings
ADHD makes it hard to pay attention, follow directions, keep track of things, sit still, wait a turn, and manage emotions and impulses. It is often missed or misread as laziness or defiance, which is hard on a child and on the whole family.
There is no single fix, and we do not pretend there is. What helps is a plan built around your child. That might be counseling to build coping and self-management skills, coaching for you on routines and responses at home, occupational therapy for regulation and organization, or timing-based training to strengthen attention.
If you want to understand how a parent’s own ADHD shapes family life, our counselors work with adults too.
