Occupational Therapy

Hi, I’m Richard, a Senior Occupational Therapist with more than 18 years of experience supporting neurodiverse children and their families. I have always been passionate about helping children build the skills, confidence, and independence they need to thrive in their everyday lives. What I love most about pediatric occupational therapy is the opportunity to connect with children through creativity, play, movement, sensory exploration, and relationship-building while helping them overcome challenges that may impact their success at home, in school, and in the community.

I believe every child experiences the world in their own unique way, and I strive to meet each child where they are while creating therapy sessions that are engaging, supportive, and purposeful. My goal is to help children feel successful, understood, and empowered to try new things even when tasks feel difficult. I focus on helping children develop confidence, self-regulation, executive functioning, motor skills, sensory processing abilities, and greater independence in daily routines and activities.
I also deeply value the relationship between therapists and families. Meaningful progress happens through collaboration, communication, and trust, and I work hard to make sure families feel heard, supported, and included throughout the therapy process. Families working with me can expect a warm, encouraging, and playful environment where children are challenged in positive and motivating ways while still feeling safe and accepted for who they are.

I am certified in Ayres Sensory Integration® through the Collaborative for Leadership in Ayres Sensory Integration (CLASI) and have advanced training in DIR®/Floortime™, Social Thinking®, Zones of Regulation®, The Alert Program®, BrainWorks, SOS Feeding Approach, Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT), Masgutova Reflex Integration, and Handwriting Without Tears®. I enjoy working with children experiencing sensory processing differences, emotional regulation challenges, autism, ADHD, developmental delays, feeding challenges, and executive functioning difficulties.
Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings and have also held leadership, mentorship, and supervisory roles supporting both clinicians and therapy programs. I also have experience utilizing innovative technology and remote therapeutic monitoring tools to help support children and families beyond the clinic setting.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy with a Clinical Proficiency Citation from the University of the Philippines Manila in 2007 and later completed my Master’s Equivalency in Occupational Therapy through the University of Arizona in 2013.
I am fluent in both English and Filipino, allowing me to connect with and support a diverse range of families. Outside of work, I’m a huge dog lover and can usually be found hiking, doing high-intensity workouts, or searching for my next favorite boba tea spot.
