Hi, I’m Lucy Atsaves, and I’m here to guide you through life’s challenges with empathy, understanding, and a touch of humor. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I’ve immersed myself in various mental health environments, specializing in supporting children, adolescents, and young adults.
My journey began in the heart of the child welfare system, where I honed my skills in trauma-informed care, effective communication, and family dynamics. I’ve witnessed the resilience of young hearts and the transformative power of familial support during times of adversity.
What drives me professionally is the privilege of connecting with kids and teens on their level. I’m not afraid to get silly, whether it’s joining them on the floor or finding creative ways to engage with those on the autism spectrum. Understanding their unique frequencies of communication is where the magic happens.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in unconditional positive regard, patience, and compassion. Building a trusting relationship with my clients is paramount, as it paves the way for us to explore anxiety, depression, and past traumas together. Through evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Positive Psychology techniques, I help clients unravel the complexities of their experiences and develop practical coping skills for everyday life.
My academic journey began with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from DePaul University in 2008, followed by a Master’s in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2015.
I’m here to support not just individuals, but entire families, in navigating life’s challenges. Together, we’ll build stronger bonds, foster open communication, and cultivate resilience in the face of adversity. Let’s embark on this journey of growth and healing as a united team, dedicated to creating a brighter future for your family.
