Hi, I’m Katie, a clinical intern in the final year of my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University. My path to becoming a therapist has been anything but traditional—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Before stepping into the world of counseling, I spent over a decade as a professional actor, performing on stages across Chicago after earning my BFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University. I also owned and ran Musical Magic in Roscoe Village, offering music, movement, and yoga classes for young children and families.
Throughout my career, one thing has remained constant: a deep belief in the power of embodiment and self-expression. Whether I was leading creative programs for kids or working with senior citizens, my focus has always been on helping people feel more connected to themselves—body, mind, and spirit.
At Touchstone, I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I love working with kids and teens because I know how complex their worlds can be—between school, family dynamics, and social pressures, it’s a lot to navigate. I strive to create a safe, playful, and empowering space where young people can build confidence and emotional resilience.
I also have a strong passion for working with adults and couples, especially those facing relationship challenges. I believe there’s no single “right” way to be in a relationship. My goal is to help partners understand one another, clarify what they want and need, and build a relationship that works for them. I aim to cultivate a nonjudgmental, sex-positive environment where people feel free to explore and define what intimacy, connection, and growth mean to them.
My approach to therapy is person-centered, LGBTQIA-affirmative, harm-reduction, and strengths-based. I work with clients navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. I also have experience supporting women who are survivors of domestic violence. As a queer clinician, I’m passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community and offering a space where all identities and experiences are seen and honored.
