Counseling
With our mission to work with the whole family, Touchstone Therapy Center provides counseling for children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples.
Who can benefit from counseling?
It can take a lot of courage to acknowledge the need for therapeutic support, especially when you might already feel overwhelmed, depleted, and hopeless. Engagement in counseling, whether it is individual, couples, or family therapy, allows the client and therapist to build a relationship that is crucial to the work that you'll be doing together, no matter what your goals are in the assessment and treatment of various concerns.
Sessions are provided in a nonjudgmental and neutral manner, emphasizing guiding and supporting clients through creating change and the development of healthy coping strategies. The client and therapist navigate through traumatic experiences, life stressors, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns through collaborative efforts.
Counseling sessions are available during the day, evenings, and Saturdays. Our couples therapist has also completed level 3 training of the Gottman Insitute, an evidence-based model of couples counseling designed to enhance relationships and reduce marital conflict.

Individual counseling
Therapy is a shared journey. Our licensed and trained therapists are here to support you, but it is ultimately your journey. You will set your therapy goals and make your own decisions about how you want to get there and why.
Through thoughtful conversations and questions, our therapists will collaborate with you in meeting your goals. At Touchstone Therapy Center, we have put together a team of therapists with different training, skills, and styles. Visit our staff page for information on each of the therapists at the center. Some clients like to work on a set of skills and want to take home handouts, while others prefer to deepen insights and understanding on their journeys. Let our intake coordinator know if you are looking for a therapist with a particular specialty.
Partners counseling
Relationships can be challenging, even when the challenges bring equal rewards. There are ups and downs in every relationship, and couples seek therapy for a wide range of reasons.
Our goal is to help the couple through challenges to strengthen and deepen their relationship while considering each couples' specific needs. Whether you are dating or have been together for years, we can help support you in whatever stage of the relationship you may be in.
It is not our place to decide whether you should stay together or end the relationship or point the finger at who is "to blame" for the issues in the relationship. Instead, we look to increase collaboration in the couple and move from blame and shame to a place of shared responsibility and humility.
We operate under the assumption that your relationship is the client and work together with you and your partner to create a dynamic that you both can feel better about.
Family counseling
Family dynamics are unique and can lead to their own unique problems. Each individual has their own needs and communication styles within the family unit, and sometimes they can be at odds with each other. Family therapy is about learning to understand each other and communicate more effectively. It is about setting healthy boundaries and respecting the boundaries of others.
Sometimes it’s about working through a traumatic experience and coming together to help each other heal. There are a lot of transitions that families undergo that can cause stress and misunderstandings, including divorce, remarriage, the addition of another child, the loss of a family member, or moving to a new place. Family therapy can help you and your family navigate these changes with grace and move closer together rather than further apart. Whatever your family’s needs are, let’s identify them and work collaboratively to rebuild trust, respect, and get back to brighter days.
Pediatric therapies
Everyone likes and deserves to have fun. We bring this approach to all our pediatric therapies. This approach includes games, sand tray, art therapy, and other activities that enable us to work with children in a fun and engaging way.
Children are not always able to tell us what's on their minds in so many words. Our therapists have to get creative in working to understand your child and give them opportunities to share their emotional experience with the vocabulary they use best.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.
EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy allows the brain to resume its natural healing process and is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies for many clients. EMDR can change negative, traumatic memories into more manageable ones that may allow one to live a life free from distress and in peace and acceptance.
Contact our clinic for more information on which therapists provide EMDR therapy at the clinic.
