DESCRIPTION:A Therapeutic Role-Playing Game Experience\nCooperative tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons are a great way to cultivate interpersonal skills that are utilized in real life. Through gameplay\, kids and adolescents are able to gain the skills needed for cooperation and collaboration. These groups aim to increase skills in the areas of: \n\nEmotional Regulation\nFrustration Tolerance\nProblem Solving\nPerspective Taking\nEmpathy\n\nYou may be asking – What is a Table Top Role-Playing Game (TTRPG)?\nA Table Top Role-Playing Game (TTRPG) is a game that can include virtual or physical elements of a board game where a group of characters works together to complete an adventure. Players have different strengths and abilities which emphasize the element of cooperative play to achieve a common goal. In the game setting\, there will be obstacles to overcome\, opportunities to work together to face challenges\, and rewards based on success. \nHow is Table Top Role-Playing Game (TTRPG) adapted for therapeutic use?\nTable Top Role-Playing Games (TTRPG) are flexible in nature. The game is led by a Game Master (GM) who can adapt the story to anticipate individual players’ strengths and challenges to develop interpersonal and social skills that can be generalized for use in the real world. \nWho facilitates these groups?\nOur groups are led by licensed therapists that have received training in how to build a game that is fun and exciting\, while engaging players to develop new skills and strengths. For more information on how these groups work contact Therapediatrics at 847-966-6666. \nFall Groups are starting in September\, with an ongoing rolling admission. When a player joins during an adventure the group facilitator will contact the parent/guardian for a consult on game setup if joining virtually and to discuss goals.
